About Wayne and Jemilo

In 1990, Wayne and Jemilo was established by Senior Partner Candace Wayne, who had previously practiced law for 15 years, and John Jemilo, now retired, as a partnership concentrating in all aspects of family law and specialized employment issues. The practice philosophy has been constant: to provide the best legal representation possible taking into consideration the financial and emotional costs of litigation versus settlement, all in a setting of concern for the client supported by honest and frequent communication.

Founding and senior partner Candace Wayne offers more than 25 years of litigation experience in family law and employment law. A highly respected attorney, Ms. Wayne combines tough litigation skills with focused settlement strategies to successfully represent clients. From her early years as a supervising attorney with the Legal Assistance Foundation of Chicago, she learned how to balance her time so that she could represent individual clients with skill and care while also mentoring and supervising her associates.

In addition to the practice of law, Ms. Wayne has taught legal courses at Kent College of Law, Northeastern Illinois University, and the University of Illinois, Chicago. A member of the Chicago Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, and the Women's Bar Association, she received her B.A. in Political Science from George Washington University and her J.D. from the DePaul College of Law. DePaul has honored Ms. Wayne as one of its distinguished alumni.

Ms. Wayne supports the community in which she lives and works. She has been highly involved in Friends of Independence Park Library and the Independence Park Advisory Council. Currently, she is a member of her neighborhood high school's Local School Counsel and chairs its Parent College Committee. She has served for ten years as Judge for the Chicago Park District Junior Citizens Award and also volunteers time on behalf of various political candidates.

Wayne and Jemilo welcomes our newest attorney, Annie Ricci, to our firm. Ms. Ricci graduated cum laude from Southern Methodist University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. She graduated from the DePaul University School of Law and holds a certificate in Family Law. Ms. Ricci is a member of the Chicago Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.
